2027 Edmonds Lodging Tax Tourism Promotion Award

OBJECTIVE: City of Edmonds Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) awards contracts for services to market and produce events/programs that contribute to economic vitality through attracting attendees or participants from outside of Edmonds. Allocations are approved by LTAC and City Council as part of the annual City budget approval process. Funded projects are required to include the following credit on all promotion materials: “Funded in part by City of Edmonds Lodging Tax Funds.” 

ELIGIBILITY:   Projects/programs/activities occurring in 2027 by organizations that include marketing and producing events/programs to attract visitors to Edmonds are eligible. Marketing can include advertising, publicizing, or distribution of information on activities or events for the purpose of attracting and welcoming visitors to Edmonds.  Proposals that are exclusively for an organization’s membership or other exclusive group will not be considered. Organizations may apply either to this program or to the Edmonds Arts Commission's Tourism Promotion Award Grant.

APPLICATION REVIEW PROCESS: Applications are reviewed and recommended by the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee for inclusion in the 2027 City budget. Awards are approved by City Council as part of the City budget approval process. Applicants will be notified after the City Council budget approval process is complete. Award recipients are required to submit reimbursement request for qualified expenses no later than Dec. 15, 2027 and a Final Report by January 15, 2028.

EVALUATION CRITERIA: LTAC will assess grant applications based on the following factors, which contribute to the enhancement of tourism and economic vitality in Edmonds:

  1. Visitor Impact and Public Engagement: Applications will be evaluated based on the ability to attract visitors, particularly those from out of town, as well as their impact on overnight stays. Additionally, community involvement in the planning, execution, and evaluation of the project will be considered. 
  2. Budget and Financial Sustainability: A strong application will demonstrate a reasonable balance between program expenditures and administrative costs. The inclusion of other funding sources, such as donations or sponsorships, will also be considered to showcase the financial sustainability of the project.
  3. Project Feasibility and Organizational Capacity: Proposals should demonstrate the applicant's ability to successfully execute and evaluate the project. This includes showcasing the expertise of board members, skilled personnel, previous successful initiatives, and a clear evaluation process to assess project outcomes.
